Frequently Asked Questions
About Hazelicious Milk
What makes Hazelicious hazelnut milk different from other plant-based milk?
Our very special chunky hazelnuts separate our rich and creamy hazelnut milk from other plant-based milk. Many nuts—including almonds, pistachios, and even regular hazelnuts—have less fat, leading to thin, watery milk. And unlike oat milk, Hazelicious hazelnut milk has no added oils or preservatives. Plus, our unsweetened hazelnut milk has only 1 gram of net carbs per serving. Cheers to that.
Do you add preservatives? What about natural or artificial flavors?
Ew, never. Our hazelnut milk is free from preservatives and added flavors. Why mess with perfection?
Can I freeze your hazelnut milk?
Freezing our hazelnut milk will lead to separation and changes in flavor. We don’t recommend it.
Can I use your hazelnut milk to bake or cook?
Definitely. You can substitute our hazelnut milk for dairy milk in any recipe. Tell us though: what’s on the menu?
Do I need to refrigerate your hazelnut milk?
Once opened, our hazelnut milk should be refrigerated. Unopened cartons can be stored in your pantry or anywhere else that remains at or near room temperature.
How long does your hazelnut milk stay good?
You can store unopened Hazelicious cartons in your pantry for up to 1 year. Opened cartons require refrigeration and will stay fresh for 7 to 10 days.
Why would you put gums in your hazelnut milk? Aren’t they the worst?
Here’s why: gums help prevent hazelnut milk, and other types of plant-based milk, from separating over time. Gellan gum is all-natural, made by fermenting sugar. It also grows on water lilies, making it the most picturesque of gums (in case anyone is asking). The EU and US Department of Agriculture both consider it safe for consumption, posing no adverse effects to humans. Acacia gum is also completely natural—it comes from tree sap!
Is your hazelnut milk barista-friendly?
100 percent. Hazelicious hazelnut milk is ridiculously rich and creamy, and froths like a dream. Plus, it won’t separate in coffee or other hot beverages.
About Hazelicious Butter
Should I refrigerate your hazelnut butter?
Refrigeration is not required, but it can prolong its optimal shelf life.
Is it processed in a facility where other allergens are present?
Nope. Our hazelnut butters are processed in a facility free from peanuts and other tree nuts.
How long does your hazelnut butter stay good?
Our hazelnut butter has an optimal shelf life of 1 year. It’s safe to consume after 1 year, though flavor and texture may change.
What makes your chocolate hazelnut butter different from other chocolate hazelnut spreads?
We are very proud of our chocolate hazelnut butter. It has 600% more hazelnuts and 60% less sugar compared to the leading chocolate hazelnut spread. Plus, we only use premium ingredients: our extra-special chunky hazelnuts and Belgian cocoa.
Why is hazelnut butter superior to almond and peanut butter?
Hazelicious nut butter is ridiculously rich, oh-so spreadable, and—you might have guessed—delicious. From OG to honey and chocolate, each distinct flavor is in a class all its own. One taste, and there’s no turning back!
What’s up with the palm oil?
Each jar of Hazelicious hazelnut butter contains just 1 tablespoon of palm oil to keep it spreadable and prevent separation. We use responsibly sourced palm oil, which means no deforestation. Palm oil requires the least amount of land to produce compared to other vegetable oils, and humans have safely consumed palm oil for thousands of years.
Sustainability & Social Impact
Is your packaging recyclable?
Absolutely. Our glass jars and Tetra Pak cartons are fully recyclable.
Why do you work with small family farms?
We believe in the power of small family farms to create a more sustainable world. Turkey is home to more than 600,000 farms that grow 75% of the world’s hazelnuts. These small farms are vital to their communities but face pressure to sell their groves to multinational corporations. We partner with suppliers to ensure fair compensation, helping these farms prosper.
Are hazelnuts good for the environment?
The best. Hazelnut farming is a perfect example of sustainable, rain-fed agriculture. Our hazelnuts are sourced from rain-fed farms that don’t use any water. Thanks to their deep roots, hazelnut trees can live through drought and also help prevent soil erosion.
